Windows 10 has been out since 2015 and is now the most used Windows operating system. Windows 7 was the most used for several years but is no longer supported due to its decade long support cycle ending. That means there are no more security updates unless you are a business willing to pay a fee. Many Windows 7 users simply do not want to upgrade because the operating system is stable and does everything they want.Despite its popularity, the last Windows 7 Service Pack 1 install DVD was released way back in 2011. If you install Windows from one of those discs, there are dozens of patches and hotfixes found when you check for updates. Rather belatedly, Microsoft tried to reduce this problem by releasing the Convenience Rollup update in April 2016 which includes 123 patches. But even that is not enough and it still leaves the system requiring dozens more patches to get fully up to date.

Hi, i saw other website integrate all updated windows 7 with the esd compression, so after integrated the iso only around 3gb, but i wonder how they do, only know it using dism tools.i try myself using nlite at the last step choosing esd compression, but the iso created cannot use for install windows 7, it comes out the error image file install.wim does not exist.
Thanks you for your article, i was trying to follow your guide using windows 10 to make an iso of windows 7 but forced to use Windows Hotfix Downloader because unable to install WUD on windows 10.Can you tell me how i can put your download list for UWD in WHD?As you wrote, WHD list too many hotfix to dowload, es. why download ie10 if there is ie11.
The WUD method will not get your computer up to date fully as the last pack update it had was March 2015. You can still use it to get your computer updated to that point, so it still works but leaves a couple of years of updates, better than nothing but certainly not ideal.
use wsusoffline they are pretty up to date. the folder path to add to Ntlite would by yourdrive:\wsusoffline\client\w61-x64\glb. Ntlite will report the hotfixes that are not compatible after you add them.
